The famous footage of an alleged Bigfoot that was taken by Roger Patterson and Rob Gimlin in 1967 now has an ever clearer look. The footage, which was shot in northern California, has been the subject of much debate over the decades because it was so grainy that it was hard to authenticate it.
There has been a recent breakthrough, as new high definition technology has made the video much clearer and new details of the creature can now be seen. As a matter of fact, the new video even reveals muscles that are flexing on the creature’s leg and thigh when it walks through the forest. This is very important because if it was a man wearing a costume, the leg and thigh muscles wouldn’t be seen. In addition, the creature’s thumb looks as though it’s positioned further up its hand, which is not where a human’s thumb would be located. And the creature also seems to stumble which couldn’t be seen in the original grainy video.
The video was edited by Bigfoot AI and he stated on his YouTube channel that the creature had “very weird knee movement” that “no human” could replicate.
Karl Shuker, who is a British zoologist, cryptozoologist and author, stated to the Fortean Times Appreciation page on Facebook, “At the time when this famous film was shot, Walt Disney Studio was at the forefront of special effects in movies and I recall reading that a Disney spokesman claimed that even they did not have the technology back then to create anything as lifelike as the alleged Bigfoot in the film.” He went on to say, “Having said that, we can never know with absolute certainty the truth of what it depicts, however much the film is viewed, discussed and analysed.”
The majority of viewers who have seen the YouTube clip are certain that the video proves that Bigfoot in fact does exist. “There’s no way that’s a dude in a suit. It’s too much detail. Bigfoot has to be real,” one viewer said. Other comments include, “Dude just watched your footage – mind officially blown,” and, “The only footage that is not a hoax. This is proof and the only evidence of Bigfoot’s existence.” But not everyone was convinced of the video, as one viewer commented, “It still looks like a big man in a bad suit to me.”
There was a 1998 BBC investigation into the original video and Chris Packham concluded that it was a hoax. However, with new technology making the footage a lot clearer, I must say that it is pretty compelling. And the Bigfoot debate lives on…
