Imagine sitting in a crowded theater watching the newest horror movie release when one of the spectators suddenly dies while watching the film. Well, that’s exactly what happened to a bunch of movie-goers in Pattaya, Thailand, who were out at a theater watching Annabelle Comes Home.
Bernard Channing was visiting Pattaya when he decided to go watch the horror movie at a local cinema. However, when the movie finished and the lights came on, a female movie-goer noticed that the 77-year-old from Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England, was dead in his seat and she yelled for the staff to call for help. Tragically, there was nothing the medical staff could do to revive the man and he was pronounced dead.
Needless to say, several of the movie-goers were very upset and shocked at what had happened. Some of the spectators were sitting near Channing and had no idea he had passed away until the lights came on. The staff at the cinema wouldn’t allow anyone to take pictures and tried to keep people away from the tragic scene.

Unfortunately this isn’t the first time that someone died while watching one of the seven Conjuring Universe movies. In 2016, a 65-year-old man from India was watching The Conjuring 2 at a theater when he passed away from a heart attack.
So, is this just a coincidence of failing health, or can movies actually kill people? This reminds me of an older movie that made headlines not too long ago about it being able to kill anyone who watches it. “Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made” was originally from the 1970s but was lost for numerous years before getting rediscovered in October of 2018. While the film was lost, strange things were added to the narrative, such as ghostly images and strange symbols. Also, the movie was originally in Arabic but the person who was attempting to translate it ended up dying.
As for the Annabelle Comes Home movie, strange and creepy things have been happening from the very beginning. Even during the filming of the movie, the cast and crew members experienced paranormal activity and unexplained occurrences, especially twelve-year-old Mckenna Grace who played Judy Warren in the film. Grace was the focus of much of the paranormal activity, which included an unexplained cut on her head, a severe nose bleed, losing power in her trailer, doors opening on their own, and seeing a shadow figure, just to name a few of her creepy experiences. A priest was even called in to bless the production crew of the all the Conjuring movies for their protection.

If unexplained events terrified the crew members during the filming of the movie, who’s to say that the activity can’t move to a cinema? And if it’s just a tragic coincidence, well, it’s also one terrifying twist of fate to pass away while watching one of the most frightening movies of the year.
