The world of dark conspiracies and shadowy forces lurking about covers a wide range, and one interesting phenomenon that has cropped up in recent days is that of people who claim to have been followed around by nefarious parties they cannot understand. These dark intruders watch them from the shadows, disrupt their lives, and generally make them miserable, operating along guidelines and under handlers we will never understand.
The phenomenon known as “gang-stalking” has only come about in very recent years, and involves those people who believe they have been targeted by dark, insidious forces for all manner of reasons. Calling themselves “Targeted Individuals,” they believe that for whatever reasons, nefarious government forces are following them around, watching them, stalking them at all hours of the day and night, and not just one stalker, but up to dozens. These shadowy parties will supposedly use all sorts of methods to follow and harass the target, including bugs, car tails, various sneaky surveillance methods, and in more insidious reports secret technology, all in an effort to, as one victim has put it, “destroy every aspect of a targeted individual’s life,” and another victim has said, “The secondary goal seems to be to make the target homeless, jobless, give them a breakdown, and the primary goal seems to be to drive the target to forced suicide.”
People who claim to be Targeted Individuals (TIs) report all manner of strange and outright bizarre things. They will see people lurking about at all hours of the day, either watching or following them, and will sometimes be approached to have some sort of code words whispered into their ear. There is often made mention of black cars or unmarked black helicopters following them, or bugs planted on their clothes or in their homes. Sometimes there will be transmissions on the radio or TV that are meant to supposedly scramble their brain, and they often talk of “mind control,” being zapped by “extremely low-frequency” (ELF) radiation, or things like what they call “Voice to Skull” (V2K) technology, space-based weapons, advanced suits that allow them to become invisible or teleport, remote mind control that can alter every bodily function on the target, and the use of highly sophisticated drones disguised as insects, birds, or other animals. One bizarre report given by a supposed gang-stalking victim on Reddit says:
I’m at home now, safely, I hope, but I’m scared shitless. I was walking alone, I noticed a bird sitting on a tree, just staring at me, nothing else. I moved on trying to forget it, but then another one came flying in my direction. I KEPT seeing birds on my way to home, but mind you, it wasn’t just a bunch of birds, just always the same two flying forwards without me noticing and then approaching me again. How do I know that they were the same two birds? The greyish dots on their back gave it away. No real bird acts this way. I even took some pictures to inspect them further later. Now tell me, do they look like real birds to you??!? I saw the first one dropping something on the ground, a black tiny object. I came rushing towards it to look at what it was but the second bird took it and flew away !!! I was so close to finding out something big, so close ughhh. Now I’m home and birds won’t leave me alone, they’re preying on me behind my windows. They just won’t go away?? I’m afraid to step outside again.
In other cases animals are said to be implanted with chips or zapped by lasers in order to be controlled for surveillance purposes. Another equally baffling report comes from a Targeted Individual who says that he was constantly harassed by mind-controlled animals of all shapes and sizes, and who writes of it:
Birds, pigeons and crows, that can be controlled to fly (screaming) over me, to land in my garden when I walk into my kitchen and look outside, to crash into my kitchen window and car front window while driving. Birds, pigeons, that come sit, walk, on the roof of my house when I am upstairs having sex. Cats walking by like being programmed. Barking of dogs, flying away ducks etc, not by mind control but by beaming these animals with laser beams (directed energy weapons).
The Gang-Stalking phenomenon involves a huge range of various conspiracies like this, including people being brainwashed to attack them, brain or body implants put in against their will, government cover-ups, mind-controlled assassins, whole people replaced by robots, and everything between, including ghosts and aliens. The perpetrators are often seen as being potentially anyone, including close friends, neighbors, employers, and even police and local politicians. The reasons why these people have been targeted are varied as well, including government experiments, the desire to gain perceived special information from them, some sort of retaliation for a perceived wrong, being silenced due to political activism or some kind of secret knowledge, a mind-control field test done in preparation for global domination, and many others. In some cases, it is government secret organizations behind it all, while others think it is a shadowy society like the Freemasons or Illuminati, while others still believe it is the doing of aliens. The most notable thing about all of this is that those who have come out as these Targeted Individuals are not at all the strange disheveled weirdos you might expect, but rather at times highly educated people including professors, policemen, lawyers, doctors, soldiers, artists, engineers, and myriad other qualified professionals.
Since many of these Targeted Individuals believe that either everyone will think they are crazy or that those close to them are “in on it,” they have formed various chatrooms and groups across the Internet, discussing, sharing stories, even publishing books and YouTube videos which can be found en masse, often backed up with very convincing-sounding “evidence” and case histories of the government using mind control technology. Some of the stories and theories get pretty wild, such as that many mass shootings were actually not the fault of the shooter, but that they were unwilling mind-controlled pawns, and the rabbit hole gets fairly deep and dangerous, with all of these people feeding off each other’s’ fears and paranoia. Indeed, while little studied, the gang-stalking phenomenon has been largely written off as a big shared delusion, with those joining the movement displaying deep paranoia and even psychosis or psychogenic illness. One Dr. Lorraine Sheridan even did a study on the phenomenon, one of the only of its kind, and concluded that they were simply delusional and caught up in a cycle of acceptance within these online groups that emboldens them, saying, “What’s scary for me is that there are no counter sites that try and convince targeted individuals that they are delusional. They end up in a closed ideology echo chamber.” One Joe Pierre M.D. has further elaborated on this on the site Psychology Today, saying:
A hundred years ago, you might search an entire town and still not find anyone who buys into your unconventional belief. But these days you can search across the entire planet with the simple click of a button, vastly increasing your chances of finding support. In other words, the internet has made it infinitely easier to find people who might share, or claim to share, even the most unconventional beliefs. And there may be no better example of this than gang stalking, where self-described “targeted individuals” or “T.I.s” have found an online haven from social stigma among like-minded individuals with whom they share common experiences, providing “evidence” that their experiences are “real.” Beyond reinforcing delusional beliefs and other psychotic symptoms, and keeping people away from potential help, another intriguing possibility that might help to explain gang stalking is that mistaking fiction for fact on the internet can create psychosis-like symptoms de novo.
Others think that this is not due to mental illness, but rather people trying to deal somehow with the uncontrollable chaos of their lives. Writer Ned Beauman has said rather eloquently of this for The New Statesman:
To compare notes on gang stalking with like-minded strangers on the internet is to take part in an investigation, almost a forensic science, a project to expose what Pynchon calls “other orders below the visible”, instead of merely sitting in your house with the blinds closed because you’re worried that everyone is out to get you. And to appreciate the artefacts of this subculture on an aesthetic level is not only to look sidelong at despair: it is also to play on sensibilities that were first sharpened in us by the work of Pynchon, DeLillo, Dick and so on: writers who were themselves trying to confront a world so large, so secretive, so random, so pitiless that not much human feeling can survive in it. These two postures differ in the important respect that one comes from a state of abjection and the other from one of literary privilege. All the same, they are both ways of coming to terms with life.
Not everyone is convinced that this is all mere wild delusions, imagination, and psychosis, with most of the people claiming these experiences describing themselves as far from crazy, and adamant that what they have gone through is all very real. There is also the fact that so many are otherwise educated, upstanding professionals and the fact that many of the stories, while differing on the hows or whys, follow the same beats. One person who had written quite extensively on the gang-stalking phenomenon is Dr. John Hall, who is not only a qualified medical professional, but has written several books on it such as A New Breed: Satellite Terrorism in America, and has appeared to talk on the matter on the hit radio program Coast to Coast AM. Dr. Hall has said of it:
I had probably three or 4,000 emails from people saying: ‘It’s happening to me in this state.’ ‘It’s happening to me in Florida.’ ‘It’s happening to me in California.’ The similarities of the cases spoke to a wide-ranging campaign. If the psychiatrists want to say that this is schizophrenia or delusional disorder, that’s fine,” he said. “But every one of these victims have the same story.
It is hard to know what to think of all of this. Is this all conspiracy fantasies and delusions or something else? Why do so many traditionally rational witnesses describe it? If any of this is real, than who are these shadowy harassers and what do they want? It remains to be seen, and in the meantime the bizarre phenomenon of “Gang-Stalking” continues to makes the rounds.
