If there was any doubt that the mainstream press has wrapped its ink-stained talons around the stories of UFOs and aliens, that was dispelled this week when The Washington Post (“Democracy Dies in Darkness”, winner of 69 Pulitzer Prizes, publisher of the Pentagon papers, home of the Watergate investigation) joined The New York Times in giving a UFO whistleblower the same respect and coverage it gave Deep Throat. Jacqueline Alemany, a congressional correspondent for The Washington Post, interviewed Luis Elizondo, the current main voice of the UFO disclosure movement who has been everyone’s favorite guest until the ‘other’ Pentagon papers – the June 25 UFO report – is released. One of the more interesting sections of the interview had to do with nuclear plants, nuclear power and the attraction of UFOs and, if they‘re not human-controlled, aliens to them. This has long been a sensitive subject to the military and Elizondo explains why, after first thanking Alemany for her “brave” question.

“But secondly, yes, that is–that is one of the concerns we have from a national security perspective, that there does seem to be some sort of congruency or some sort of intersection between these UAP or UFO sightings and our nuclear technology with nuclear propulsion, nuclear power generation, or nuclear weapons systems.”

Elizondo points out that other countries have reported UFO encounters around nuclear power plants as well. This is often considered to be a sign that benevolent aliens are watching them to prevent humans from destroying themselves and the planet. This goes all the way back to the first nuclear tests, but Elzondo isn’t convinced this is a sign that we’re in good ET hands.

“But in the same context, we also have data suggesting that in other countries these things have interfered with their nuclear technology and actually turned them on, put them online.”

Hmm. If these UFOs can activate nuclear power in other countries, wouldn’t that be more of a sign they’re controlled by other countries bent on preventing the U.S. from world nuclear dominance – especially in lieu of the fact that UFOs have appeared over U.S. nuclear missile sites before they were mysteriously deactivated? That has happened quite often.

“Los Alamos now has flying green lights. These will ‘o wisps seen generally about 2 a.m., have alerted the local constabulary and their presence is being talked about in Santa Fe bars. But local wheels deny any official knowledge of the sky phenomena. Each one passes the buck to another.”

In 1949, the Los Alamos Skyliner reported accounts of many green UFOs around the Los Alamos and Sandia atomic-weapons laboratories, where the first atomic bombs were developed and tested. George Knapp once told History.com that he was told by workers at a Nevada atomic test that “UFO activity was so commonplace there, employees were assigned to monitor the activity.” In the 1960s and ’70s, there were a number of UFO sightings at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, a storage site for nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), including one incident when multiple missiles went “unlaunchable” after the report of a glowing red object, about 30 feet in diameter, hovering over the facility. Then there’s the Bentwaters-Rendlesham Forest incident when multiple UFOs were reported near Royal Air Force Bentwaters in England which housed a secret stash of nuclear weapons in fortified underground bunkers.

Finally, the events which brought UFOs to the mainstream media recently are those seen by U.S. military pilots and nuclear warships. Coincidence? There’s no question we’re not the benevolent ones, but should we really believe – if the reported UFOs are indeed controlled by aliens, as Elizondo indicates – that they’re watching out for our best interests?

Or, as ET skeptics suggest, are these UFO appearances around nuclear plants, nuclear missile sites and nuclear warships harbingers of an inevitable human-driven nuclear war?

I’m not saying it’s aliens, but is anyone else hoping it’s aliens?
