A team of paranormal investigators were exploring an ancient Irish church when they captured a photo of what appeared to be a ghostly apparition. The team, which is called Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland (or PSII for short), recently traveled to Inchagoill Island on Lough Corrib where they spent the entire night.

It was only the following morning that the team captured a picture of what looked like a ghostly entity standing in the archway of a church. In an interview with the Irish Mirror, Richard Morrison, who is the co-founder of the paranormal team, talked about the image, “We find this picture quite interesting as most of our followers on Facebook are saying they can see a person with a beard and hooded cloak standing in the archway at the church.”

He went on to say, “When we put a picture up we never put any ideas into anybody’s head, we just say, ‘Look this picture seems very interesting’,” adding, “What we see, other people are seeing. It’s definitely something there.”

According to the team, they have recorded disembodied voices during previous visits to the island and claim that it is a very paranormally active location. During their investigations, they use EMF equipment (this detects electromagnetic fields), infrared cameras, a full spectrum camera, and voice recorders.

You can decide for yourself whether or not the team captured a ghostly apparition on camera as their photo can be viewed here.

As for the history of Inchagoill Island, it is known as “the island of the devout foreigner”. It was owned by Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness prior to the Forestry taking it over. The ruins of two small ancient churches rest within the cemetery with one of the churches being named “St. Patrick’s Church” (or “Teampull Phadraig”.

Located close to the churches is a Silurian grit stone called the “Lugnaedon Pillar” that measures approximately 2 feet in height. There is a carving of a cross on the north side of the pillar and two crosses on each of the other sides. It has an inscription that references St. Patrick’s sister and dates back to the 6th century.

With such a deep history connected to the island, perhaps there are spirits wandering around and just maybe the PSII team did in fact capture one of the entities on camera.
