40 cars are impacted by the notice, which follows one from Toyota over the same issue.
Subaru Australia has become the second brand to recall cars because of improperly-tempered rear window glass, launching a recall for the 2018-19 Impreza.
The campaign follows in the footsteps of one announced by Toyota earlier this week. According to Subaru, the left-hand rear door window may have been inadequately tempered because of an incorrect cooling process during manufacture.
If the glass is broken, it might not shatter into small pieces as intended, instead breaking into large fragments. That increases the risk of injury to occupants in a crash.
A total of 40 cars are included in the campaign – a VIN list is attached here.
Subaru Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
